Montenegro considers her role as an artist to be like a seismograph needle that responds to the trembling ground beneath our feet. Her work is one expression of the zeitgeist, meeting both global and community level issues head on. Frequently collaborating with local organizations, Montenegro uses art as a tool to communicate issues, and to dialogue with the community. She challenges the usage of public space through interactive installations and mural projects at the street level.
