Casa Maria is a non-profit organization committed to nonviolence, voluntary poverty, prayer, and hospitality for the homeless, exiled, hungry, and forsaken. We actively protest injustice, war, racism, and violence of all forms.

As part of the Catholic Worker movement founded in 1930 in New York City by Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin, Casa Maria’s mission is to practice daily love and compassion. The call to solidarity with the poor is at the heart of these teachings.

Casa Maria Soup Kitchen provides free services every morning, primarily to those in need within the city of South Tucson. These services include breakfast, sack lunches, fresh produce for families, dog and cat food, clothing, hygiene products, and more. These charitable efforts are sustained by donations we receive from the greater Tucson community.

We are dedicated to fighting for our people and neighborhoods through revolutionary means; we are actively working with the Barrio Neighborhood Coalition to prevent gentrification from destroying our barrios by demanding a moratorium on tax incentives called GPLETs.
